2018 Honors Assembly Awards

ASME recognized nine distinguished engineers and scientists at its 2018 Honors Assembly. The recipients’ fields include computational mechanics, heat and mass transfer, computer-aided engineering, bioengineering, space science, manufacturing, and codes and standards. The honorees work in academia and industry, and the distinguished group includes a Nobel Prize laureate, an innovator in the commercialization of space, and an engineer whose achievements touch almost everyone who uses a computer.

ASME presented the 2018 awards in November at a ceremony held during the annual ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in Pittsburgh.

These nine honorees are among 82 individuals recognized this year by ASME for meritorious contributions to engineering. The process begins with screenings by the General Awards Committee and a series of special award committees, with approval by the Committee on Honors.

Here we present our video biographies of each Honors Assembly awardee, and a video tribute to their collective achievements.
