Welcome Back!

The ability to interact with ASME instructors who bring real world experience, examples, and best practices to life in our learning experiences is a major reason learners choose face to face training. Networking with peers is also a valuable part of the time spent together during a course. We are excited to start offering these important courses again in person.

Schedule: This course commences at 9 AM and ends at 5 PM local time, each day, with breaks scheduled throughout.

Venue: This course will be held at the Shell Energy Transition Campus, in Amsterdam, in conjunction with ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code Week . Please follow this link for venue information and to learn more about the Code Week.

This one-day course covers relevant topics of ASME B31.3 for piping design and fabrication. Participants will get an overview of the basic design rules for piping components and how to deal with material requirements. They will also see how piping layout can be checked. Fabrication, examination, and testing issues will be discussed. The focus of this course is on process industry applications, such as oil & gas plants, refineries, chemical, and petrochemical plants.

The following key topics will be covered:

  • Overview on piping codes for new construction and in-service
  • Material aspects
  • Design of piping components
  • Pipe stress analysis
  • Fabrication, examination, and testing

By participating in this course, you will learn how to successfully:

  • Describe how B31.3 is organized and the scope of the code.
  • Distinguish between code material and non-code material.
  • Identify the main material properties required for the application of code rules and where they can be found.
  • Apply design rules for some standard piping components as well as how to deal with stresses due to a selected piping layout.
  • Explain the basics regarding fabrication, examination and testing requirements.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for piping inspection and maintenance engineers, piping design engineers, inspectors, NDE personnel, piping supervisors, and contractors.
