QPS applies to general commercial and industry sectors which provide or manufacture goods and services to a defined specification (either internal or customer defined). The QPS standard and certification program provides a high level of confidence that an item’s conformance to a customer purchase order will be achieved. Taking the QPS Review is a prerequisite for QPS Certification. The QPS Standard and its Certification program have been developed to be a supplement to technical standards that do not have a dedicated section that addresses quality and their requirements. Applying QPS to these standards will enhance the quality of items supplied to general industry. QPS is not limited to only working with ASME standard and will work as the quality program for most general industry standards.

An organization taking this course will get a general understanding of QPS and the requirements that are needed to complete the QPS certification process. Included in the review is an overview of the standards 17 requirements and the roles and responsibilities of both Senior Management, the Quality Manager as well as the personnel associated with the organization's quality program.

It is a requirement within the QPS program that the quality manager go through formal ASME training on the QPS Standard. By successfully completing this review module, you will have fulfilled the requirements of the standard, and this will prepare you for the QPS certification.

By participating in this course, you will learn how to successfully:

  • Determine if a given part is suitable for replication using additive manufacturing (based on certain criteria).
  • Ensure quality of a print through the use of industry best practices.
  • Identify the additive manufacturing design techniques that are specific to the replicate used case.
  • Differentiate alternatives to powder bed fusion, why they wouldn’t be appropriate for this case, and what used cases they would be appropriate for.
